1 hour Guided tour to the Urho Kekkonen National Park and Tankavaara Wild Center

Tankavaara is a village middle of the wilderness right next to Finland’s second largest national park, Urho Kekkonen National Park. The scenic area is known for its typical northern spruce forest and “candle spruce” trees that are tall and thin. Several different nature trails from Tankavaara lead to the forests, meadows and lappish mountain nature.

One hour guided tour starts with a walk in the nature as our guide tells about the nature in Lapland and Tankavaara area. We learn about the every man’s rights and national parks in Finland and what they mean for hikers and every one enjoying the nature. We walk in forest area and if you are lucky you might see some typical birds to the lappish nature such as Siberian Jay.

After the walk we arrive back to Tankavaara Wild center where our guide explains more about the different seasons in Lapland and the northern lights. There’s also a photography exhibition as well as toilets in the center.

Our tour starts from Tankavaara Wild Center which has a parking area nearby. The circular nature trail leads us back to the center and is easy to walk. All you need are good clothes and shoes for the outdoors. We recommend taking a camera with you to capture the the great nature of the national park!

Restaurant Old Gold Prospector serves within walking distance and is open daily. It is also possible to drive there by car.
